Planned production downtime notice – MPI 2.0

November 12, 2019

LACIE PROD is tentatively scheduled for the new MPI 2.0 implementation with a required downtime as follows:

When: Tuesday, December 3, 2019 Delayed, TBD soon

Duration: 3-4 hours (“a few hours of downtime, scheduled after business hours”)

This project has been ongoing for several months now, since our last code upgrade (June 2019) and should bring large improvements to the HIE’s auto-matching capabilities that are used internally as well as with our cross community partner and eHealth Exchange connections.

As of today (Nov 12), there are multiple re-testing requests that have been shared to contributing sources that are pending, as well as one additional patch that will need to be applied and retested as well. All MPI testing with LACIE CERT, including retesting, will need to be completed & communicated by close-of-business of Tuesday November 26th.

If you know of any major or critical issues that are remaining, please be sure to notify us ASAP so they may be addressed before we proceed with this new MPI 2.0 solution.

CANCELED: Lab Collection date-time values coming soon!

November 4, 2019

LACIE is adding a column to the Lab widget of the Portal and CommunityView displays. This data will also be added to the HIE’s Aggregated CCDA. This is a global change that will impact ALL organizations who share Lab information with LACIE!

LACIE-CERT should have this column available for display-testing by Monday, November 11th. This new column is currently available in LACIE-CERT as of Wednesday, November 6.

LACIE-PROD is tentatively scheduled for this change on Monday, December 2nd

Organizations who are already sharing LAB data with the HIE should confirm how lab data is shared (CCD, CCDA, HL7-ORU):

  • If CCD/CCDA, confirm (with IT, EMR Vendor, etc) if this the lab specimen collection date-time is included in what you are sending
  • If HL7-ORU, confirm what is being shared in OBR 7.1
    • If it is the collected-date-time value, no further action should be needed. Please still email Jacob Jordan to notify the HIE that you have confirmed your Lab ORU OBR 7.1 contains the collected date-time values.
    • If your organizations ORU OBR 7.1 contains anything other than the collected date-time value, please contact Jacob Jordan ASAP to notify the HIE of what data is in this HL7-segment so we can adjust our plans and timeline before this goes live!!

This is also not a time-sensitive change, meaning the HIE will likely pickup these values and this information in old-transactions that have already been shared to the HIE repository. Therefore, it is critical to confirm these details BEFORE NOVEMBER 22 to ensure the HIE does not misinterpret your organization’s data & share the wrong information when this change goes live.

November 25, 2019

LACIE is not currently able to proceed with this effort. It seems there are plenty of ORU transactions already in LACIE that do not fit properly into this specification. These ORU’s would either generate errors in the HIE and prevent some records from being viewed entirely, while others would potentially display an inaccurate date-time that seems to be defined differently by the contributing organization(s) that are using this interface segment for something else instead.

Cerner is backing the changes out of LACIE-CERT soon and PROD will remain as it is today, without the additional column.

Any contributing organizations who are interested in getting this added should contact Jacob Jordan to share their intent. LACIE will need all organizations who contribute lab data to the HIE to assist in a group effort of testing and validating this HIE change (including validation of existing data already shared to the HIE that may not have had this specifically scoped).

LACIE PROD has been upgraded as of August 21st. The Upgrade page has been taken back down from our site and will not be used again until the next upgrade event. Thank you to everyone who helped participate in testing with the upgrade. If you have any issues, please contact us as you normally would for support. As always, please be sure to not email or share HIPAA PHI data unencrypted or non-secured such as general email. If those details are needed, we will assist in getting that information through appropriate methods to ensure patient privacy and security.

The next upgrade is coming

We have started planning for the next upgrade, and would like to encourage our contributing participants and trading partners to begin planning testing efforts as well. We will be considering the 2019Q2 upgrade, which will not be available until April at the earliest. We hope to have testing completed before the end of the quarter making the production upgrade June 30th or sooner. Plans for installing the upgrade into our test environment as well as the production environment will be added here, so continue to check back often.

Moving Update

January 31, 2019

Please be advised, we have officially moved. We no longer are able to receive mail at the 12200-address. We also are in the process of moving the fax-number still. Faxes at our 816-255-number are not being received at this time. We hope to have this fixed within 2 weeks. Until then, faxes may be routed to 866-861-8428.

Patient Opt forms must be submitted to the new address or the temporary fax number or we will not receive them & we will be unable to complete the opt-request!

Welcome Liberty Hospital!

January 7, 2019

Liberty Hospital has completed their onboarding project with LACIE and has officially gone live! Organizations viewing the Aggregated Summary should automatically begin to see information from them if the records are able to be appropriately matched. Organizations that query/retrieve the documents instead should also begin to see records with this source when available.

Congratulations and welcome!

We are moving!

November 19, 2018

LACIE offices will be moving to a new location in 2019!! Details will be coming soon & published here. Participating organizations will need to be sure to request updated materials (such as the patient opt forms) that include the mailing address on them (Organizations in Kansas should continue to following the same State of Kansas process & not change their patient opt request process). Requests mailed to the wrong address cannot be completed by LACIE.

Electronic addresses (server IP Addresses, ports, URLs) will not expected to be impacted by this move.

January 4, 2019

The move continues as planned! Our new office space is located at:

7300 Tiffany Springs Parkway
Kansas City, MO 64153

Please be patient with us as we complete the move over the next few weeks. Phone, fax and internet access for staff may be limited or interrupted while our service provider completes moving their equipment and services.

IMPORTANT: Organizations using the LACIE Opt brochure and forms will need to be sure to send these Opt requests to the new address! If you would like an updated electronic version of this form, send us an email with your request. Organizations with facilities in Kansas should continue to follow the KanHIT process for patient opt requests (no change is needed with our move).

A special Thank You to Truman Medical Centers for all of their assistance with this move!
